Alteration of an air raid shelter in Hamburg / wire saw works and demolition works
In Hamburg a 4 floors high air-raid shelter was converted into a residential and office building. We received the contract for the concrete sawing works and worked on site from November 2007 until March 2008.
It was our task to form openings in reinforced concrete walls in the dimensions 2.50 m x 3.50 up to 4.50 m x 5.00 m. The wall thickness was 1.10 m up to 1.20 m. We had to form 50 openings. The volume of the reinforced concrete l to be removed and disposed of was approx. 900 t.
We made use of the wire sawing technique, the consumption of diamond wires was approx. 450 linear metres. Furthermore we removed large reinforced concrete walls and masonry walls, formed large openings in reinforced concrete ceilings using wall saws and carried out strip-out works. The separation and disposal of the material, street closures and the obtaining of permissions as well as the protection of the construction site were also included in the contract.
